Vigo taxi drivers ask the Council for voluntary rest
The Asociation Elite Taxi He met with the councilor of Vigo, Javier Pardo, to ask that those drivers who wish to do so can work without having to comply with the mandatory rest day during Christmas.
Every day there are 92 taxis that rest, but Roberto Costas points out that, due to the Christmas season, the demand overflows so that it cannot be met.
“Citizens who are waiting for a taxi at the stop and cannot find it are angry with us, not with the City Council,” he says. Elite Taxi has requested by registration of the City Council that this measure be implemented, always on a voluntary basis.
The entity emphasizes that just as the train services to Vigo, urban and interurban buses are reinforced, the number of taxis in service must be increased.
“During the nights there are a hundred taxis who do not want to work. If we discount those who are resting and at the airport, there is a maximum of 300 who could do so. For the peak dates are insufficient, “says the spokesman for the group.
