New child allowance memo surfaced: automatic fraudster with 3000 euros in debt

Correction

In an earlier version of this article we wrote that it was already known that parents with a debt to the tax authorities of more than 3000 euros were automatically labeled OGS. That’s not true, it says in the memo that was released today. Whether the measure was actually implemented is not known and is being investigated by the ministry.

We also wrote that the memo from 2016 states that parents with a debt of up to 1500 euros sometimes also received the OGS stamp. However, this is not stated in the memo, but in a letter sent to the House of Representatives today.
