Cartagena taxi drivers in Colombia fight pirates
Taxi drivers are tired of criminals disguising themselves as taxi drivers at the bus terminal in Cartagena (Colombia) to attract customers.
The complainant who got into the vehicle, which was not a taxi, assured that the driver took a different route and stopped in the middle of the route, apparently waiting for another person to rob the client.
“I was able to run away and get to a gas station before they robbed me,” emphasizes the complainant.
With this, there are three cases reported by the media The universal, about the false taxi drivers who use their vehicles to commit this type of theft, after picking up passengers inside the Transport Terminal.
“We have a cooperative of authorized taxi drivers who wait on the first platform of the access line. The drivers are uniformed and are the ones that users should use; but we are not the authority to force them to take the reliable service provided with these taxis, ”explained Romero, spokesman for the Cartagena taxi cooperative.
Choose a safe taxi
Romero pointed out that users who arrive at the Transport Terminal from other cities or municipalities, can approach the information section, where they will indicate what price the race has to their home, they even give them a receipt with the taxi license plate who will provide the service.
“This makes the service reliable, so that, if there is a lost object, the user can return to the Terminal and showing the receipt that was given to him, the object can be recovered,” said Luis, who added that this cooperative works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and they do it in shifts.
