Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The construction of new airports is still a priority in President Jokowi’s strategic project. Jokowi has issued Presidential Regulation number 109/2020 concerning the Acceleration of Implementation of 201 National Strategic Projects (PSN) and 10 Programs covering 23 Sectors.
Of the many sectors, there is the airport sector, where there are 8 airport projects including new airports. The projects include Kediri Airport which will be built by PT Gudang Garam, a leading cigarette producer. In addition, there is North Bali Airport which has long been awaited as an equal distribution of development in Bali.
Especially for Kediri Airport, PT Gudang Garam Tbk through its subsidiary PT Surya Dhoho Investama (SDI) finally realized the construction of an international airport in Kediri, East Java.
President Director of PT Surya Dhoho Investama (PT SDI), Susanto Widyatmoko, estimates that the airport construction will cost around Rp. 6 trillion, with Rp. 3 trillion each for land and airports.
According to him, this airport construction uses a special Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) scheme. Where 100% done by the private sector. “It is public, for example government land, but private infrastructure. This is 100% private,” said Susanto at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Thursday (16/01/2020).
Ground breaking of Kediri Airport or Dhoho Airport in Kediri Regency officially took place on Wednesday (15/4/2020). The ground breaking procession was carried out virtually by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment who was also the Minister for Interim Transportation, General TNI (Ret.) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
This airport will later be opened to the public, especially for the Kediri area and its surroundings as an alternative airport in East Java.
