GIESSEN – GIESSEN (red). Since Tuesday evening it has been clear that “FCG Offensive GmbH” with its managing director Markus Haupt and the partners Jakup Aljija, Markus Roscher, Salvatore Cuneo and Kai Braun is separated from FC Giessen, which means that the regional league team will continue to do business now again with the entire association, i.e. the emergency board, namely the Giessen lawyer Turgay Schmidt. Managing Director Markus Haupt responded to these developments of the last few days in a press release on Thursday afternoon, which we publish here.
“For a year now, FCG Offensive GmbH has managed the business of the FC Gießen Regionalliga team from the club’s board of directors who finally resigned, maintained it financially and continued to stimulate the Waldstadion with regional league football . This situation arose after the club entered a financial The FCG Offensive GmbH had managed to absorb the regional league team in the second half of the 2019/20 season, to lead them through the first wave of the corona pandemic and a powerful team into the current round of 2020 / 21. And this with a 50% reduced player budget and a start with high hygiene requirements and corona requirements.
In addition, a functioning office was installed at the stadium and the existing and newly acquired sponsors for the football project in Giessen were brought back on board. Many thanks to the sponsors and supporting fans for the great cooperation.
Since the Offensive GmbH has no possibilities for direct access to youth work and the U 23, attempts were made to support them in a roundabout way: In the form of the revival of the youth development association and the search for sponsors. Due to the surprising and now maximally crippling mass resignation of the board of directors in late summer, a situation arose in which the remaining board could only choose the way through an emergency board appointed by the local court. This association situation was the sole responsibility of the remainder of the board and now meant that the officially appointed emergency director, attorney Turgay Schmidt, had to legally request the GmbH in a constructive discussion on November 24, 2020 to leave its activities to the association in the person of the emergency director. The emergency board now has (…) the opportunity to lead the team through the current Corona wave (keyword: short-time work) and also to assert claims for Corona help and funding for the club. The shareholders wish the emergency board in its fulfilling task of maintaining football in Giessen all the best and a lucky hand. The FCG Offensive GmbH will continue to exist and will gladly continue to carry out tasks in the interests of the association. It is only to be hoped for the association that there can be a quick meeting of members with new elections.
