That went quickly: two days after the exclusive reporting by Nordkurier about a possible shadow budget of the MV state government, politicians reacted – and promised transparency.
Schwerin.
The internal paper of the state audit office, in which a possible shadow budget of the state government fed from corona emergency loans is criticized, has led to hectic activity in political Schwerin. On Thursday morning, an XXL coalition made up of the SPD, CDU and the left came together in the state parliament’s finance committee and emphasized that budget law would remain in the hands of parliament and that parliament would be more involved in the measures relating to the MV protection fund.
Monotoring report on the MV protection fund
A joint press release by the parties involved literally states: “The resolution of the parliamentary groups of SPD, CDU and DIE LINKE now regulates that the state parliament’s finance committee must in future approve the economic plan of the MV Schutzfonds. Approvals for measures of one million euros or more also require the approval of the finance committee. In addition, all measures funded from the MV Schutzfonds are made known to the finance committee in a regular monitoring report. “

The state audit office had previously complained that parts of the 2.85 billion special loan that the state government took out due to the corona crisis would not be used for the consequences of the pandemic. Evil tongues had already failed to point out that the record loan would also have to be used to implement sleepy and previously unaffordable projects by the state government. The references to “election gifts” that could be financed from the loan were also making the rounds.
Experts from the state audit office are not heard
Only the AfD parliamentary group remains outside of the XXL coalition in the state parliament. The AfD commented acutely that the AfD’s request to hear an expert from the state audit office in the finance committee was rejected. “This supplementary budget with record credits, which is largely not justified by the Corona crisis, leads to immense debt at the expense of our country’s financial sovereignty. Against this background, shying away from a discussion with the experts at the State Audit Office shows that there is a lack of sense of responsibility in this very important question of the future. It would have been urgently necessary to let the committee work as a sovereign decision-making body before adopting a supplementary budget that would burden generations ”, said Jens-Holger Schneider, local political spokesman for the AfD parliamentary group.
