According to the government’s decision, from Friday, November 27, when marking “Rīgas satiksme” buses in Garkalne, Mārupe and Salaspils counties, the marked seats and mutual distance will have to be observed. Seats will be marked on buses of routes 7, 10, 25, 43, 55 (Mārupe), routes 16, 28, 29 (Garkalne), as well as route 50 (Salaspils), the company informed.

Analyzing the passenger flows in the existing buses of “Rīgas satiksme” in the territory of Garkalne, Mārupe and Salaspils counties, it can be seen that the current passenger load is in the range from about 17% to 39%, not reaching 50%, therefore the introduced additional safety requirements will not cause significant changes for passengers.
It has already been reported that the amendments adopted on 24 November 2020 to the Cabinet of Ministers Order no. Paragraph 655 “On the declaration of a state of emergency” 5.39.6. provides: ‘the urban public transport carrier shall organize boarding and alighting in such a way that the number of passengers in the vehicle does not exceed 50% of its capacity. If, due to the nature of the vehicle, it is not possible to control the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers, the seats in the vehicle shall be marked to ensure distance requirements. “
