President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) pointed Luhut Binsar Panjaitan to be the interim Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (CCP), interim Minister Edhy Prabowo. Edhy was replaced after being arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission on suspicion of corruption in the export of lobster seeds (fries).
The appointment of Luhut as ad interim Minister of KKP was contained in a letter signed by the Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.
Currently, Luhut serves as the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment who also coordinates the KKP.
“The Coordinating Minister for Luhut has received a letter from the State Secretary which said that in connection with the investigation process by the KPK against the KKP Minister, the President appointed the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment,” said the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment’s PR, Wednesday (25/11).
Edhy Prabowo was secured by the KPK after making an official visit from the United States. He was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the early hours of Wednesday, along with his wife, Iis Rosita Dewi, and 17 other people.
The KPK immediately detained Edhy and other suspects. “The suspects are currently being detained at the detention center for 20 days from November 25 to December 14, respectively at the KPK Detention Center, the Red and White Building Branch of the KPK,” said KPK Deputy Chairman Nawawi Pomolango.
Meanwhile, the two remaining suspects, namely Andreau Pribadi Misata (staff of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries) and a person named Amiril Mukminin, have not been detained because both are still at large.
The KPK, said Nawawi, asked the two suspects to cooperate in surrendering.
“The KPK appealed to the two suspects, namely APM and AM, to immediately surrender themselves to the KPK,” he said.
