The last set in this match started again with the first points scored by the housewives, but the guests reached 5: 1 in their favor. The housewives managed to balance the result, but after 15:15 the Ostrava team was in the lead all the time, celebrating the victory in four sets.

According to the Latvian Volleyball Federation, the most productive home team captain was Kristīne Kramēna with 18 points. Petra Nechiporuka, who took part in the second set, scored 14 points, but Lāsma Ozola and Katrīna Paula Krustkalne scored nine points.

Klāra Žarnovicka was the most productive in the ranks of the opposing team with 19 points. Andrea Štrbova and Mihaeela Nečasova helped with 15 points.

The second match in the sports house “Daugava” will take place on Thursday.

Taking into account the situation in the world and comparing it in Latvia and the Czech Republic, it was decided by mutual agreement to play both games in Latvia, observing a number of precautionary measures.

The Rigans have played only five games in the Baltic Women’s Volleyball League (BSVL) this season, three of which have been celebrated. The RVS / LU team played the last game in the BSVL Championship in October, so before the Challenge Cup test, the matches were played with the teams of “Riga Stradins University” / “Inguna Minus Volleyball School” and “Jelgava”.

Due to the restrictions of Covid-19 in Latvia, it is not possible for eight players to participate in the games, because they have not yet reached the age of 18. The biggest loss is the absence of the team’s main diagonal player Vladas Pridatko. In BSVL, he was perfectly replaced by Katrīna Paula Krustkalne in October, becoming a player of the league of the month.

LVF previously reported that preparing for the Challenge Cup was not easy for the Czech team. Due to the limitations of Covid-19, the trainings could only take place in the fresh air, but then the opportunity was found to go to the neighboring country of Poland, where the trainings were held indoors.

The Ostrava team played the last game four days ago, winning the Czech championship. The team has played six games this season, dividing the wins and losses in half. This performance ranks Ostrava Club with 11 points in third place.

The Riga team starts in the CEV Challenge Cup for the second year in a row. Last year, the team met with the Bekēščaba “Roplabda” team from Hungary. There was a loss in both games – in the home game with 1: 3, away with 0: 3.

Meanwhile, the Ostrava team also played in the 1/16 final last year, in which the Graz UVC from Austria won 3: 2 in the first game, but lost 1: 3 in the answer match and withdrew from the further fight.

27 women’s volleyball clubs have applied for the Challenge Cup this year. The competition format provides for one home game and another away. The winner enters the sum of two games in the next round. If the points obtained after two games are a draw (three points are awarded for a victory with 3-0 and 3-1, two points for a victory with 3-2, one for a loss with 2-3, and a loss with 0-3 and 1 for a loss). -3 points are not awarded), after the second game the so-called gold set is played, which determines the winner.

Arriving in the eighth final, the host of the tournament “MCM-Diamant” will face the “bubble” in the Hungarian city of Kaposvár at the beginning of December. After reaching the eighth final, the quarterfinals will have to meet with Istanbul THY (Turkey) or Skopje “Vardar” (Northern Macedonia).

It has already been reported that both Latvian men’s teams – Jēkabpils “Lūši”, who had to meet with Milan “Allianz Powervolley” and “RTU Border Guard” / “Jūrmala”, have refused to participate in the CEV Challenge Cup 1/16 final due to difficulties caused by Covid-19. whose opponent was the Czech club “Lvi” in Prague.
