Natural grass is gaining ground again: Roda is also having artificial grass mat removed

Roda JC will play on natural grass again from the 2021/2022 season. The Limburgers have decided to remove the artificial turf in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium in the summer of next year.

On the website from the Koempelclub can be read that a real turf will be laid. Roda also plans to use the iconic Kaalheide again as a training location for the first selection. Now the players of trainer Jurgen Streppel still train in the stadium, but that is no longer the intention if there is a natural grass surface.

To keep the grass in optimum condition, Roda wants to move to Kaalheide, where training on natural grass will be made possible. In addition to the plans for the new field, the club has also decided to give the facilities on the training complex a ‘facelift’.

Roda is the next in line of clubs that have decided to abandon artificial turf. In the Eredivisie only Heracles, Sparta and Emmen still play on a plastic field. The last two clubs already have plans to return to a natural grass surface.
