Koeman enjoys ‘hungry’ Barcelona in Kiev: ‘This is what we want’ | NOW

Ronald Koeman is very happy with what FC Barcelona showed on Tuesday in the Champions League match with Dynamo Kiev. The Dutch coach booked a welcome 0-4 victory with the troubled Spanish top club.

“I enjoyed the collective. This is what we want,” said Koeman. “I’ve seen a hungry team. We scored four goals, important players had a rest and the young players earned these minutes. They performed well.”

The former national coach of Orange left players like Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong at home, but that did not hurt his team. With goals from Martin Braithwaite (two), Sergiño Dest and Antoine Griezmann, a big victory was booked and wintering in the Champions League is a fact.

“We achieved our goal by achieving a good result and reaching the eighth finals,” said Koeman. “The team made an energetic impression. We were not effective enough in the first half, but we were in the second half. We can be very happy.”

Koeman has a rough start as a coach of Barcelona. The club’s performance is unstable, the trainer has to deal with injuries within his selection and it has been restless for some time now.

The next game in Barcelona is on Sunday, when Osasuna comes to visit for La Liga. Three days later, the Catalans continue the Champions League season with a game against Ferencváros.
