“‘Christmas Madness’ broke out earlier this year and is taking place online. E-shops have been blowing this year’s extraordinary chance – due to closed stone shops – for a long time, so in some cases the discounts marked with the term ‘Black Friday’ have been offered for several weeks, roughly since the beginning of November, “said economist Lukáš Kovanda.
–
His words are also confirmed by experts from the Shoptet company, according to which, mainly due to a combination of discounts and closed stores, this year’s spending in Czech e-shops will exceed one billion crowns for Black Friday, for the first time in history. They would thus surpass by a quarter from last year’s expenses, when Czechs spent about 800 million crowns in e-shops during these discount events.
–
It is estimated that more than 550,000 people will engage in online shopping during major discounts. The average expenditure should be around 900 crowns.
–
“Black Friday drivers in the Czech Republic will traditionally be large e-shops that appeal to a large part of consumers. On the contrary, a large part of smaller online stores will not participate in sales events, often due to missing marketing campaigns, “said Miroslav Uďan from Shoptet.

E-shops have no competition
The current situation associated with government measures due to the spread of covid 19 is significantly affecting online stores.
–
“E-shops lost a significant part of the competition in the main season in the form of stone shops. Despite the fact that online retailers will offer similar discounts as in previous years, their turnovers will be record-breaking due to the current situation, “added Uďan.
–
“Revenues of e-shops, which are the most in the world in the Czech Republic in terms of per capita, will attack a record level of 200 billion crowns this year, which they will probably exceed,” estimated this year’s turnover of online retailers Kovanda, an economist, estimated.

Electronics, clothes only after the holidays, pay off
According to his recommendation, it pays to buy especially electronics, consoles and computer games, clothes and fashion accessories. “Sellers offer discounts of up to about 70 or 80 percent, but in reality the discounts are usually lower, rather around ten to twenty percent. However, this does not exclude that, for example, atypical goods, which the seller needs to get rid of, the customer will really buy, for example, even with an 80% discount, ”he added.
–
On the contrary, it pays to wait with the purchase of clothes or shoes. “Real discounts on Christmas for these types of goods can be up to seventy percent. If stone shops are open after the holidays, even more significant discounts can be expected, as these shops will try to attract customers who have lost during the pandemic closure, ”estimates the economist.
