The Importance of Vaccines to Prevent the Covid-19 Outbreak

biem.co – Until now, many people have ignored the importance of vaccines to prevent infectious diseases. Thus, massive socialization is needed and continues to be sustainable. The reason is, vaccines are considered to be the most effective tool to prevent transmission because they can build immunity, as in Covid-19.

“Each vaccine has a different effectiveness, and the vaccine will not get permission if its effectiveness is low. For the Covid-19 vaccine, WHO sets the effectiveness of at least 50 percent. We hope that the existing vaccines will have a higher effectiveness than the figures set by WHO, “said dr. Dirga Sakti Rambe, Vaccineologist and Internal Medicine Specialist, in the Productive Dialogue ‘Vaccines as Health Preventive Planning’ held by KPCPEN, recently.

According to dr. Dirga, vaccines during a pandemic are needed as a means of public health intervention. Because it is dangerous, the symptoms of being infected with Covid-19 are considered to be very minimal so that many patients do not realize they have been infected.

“This has resulted in many Covid-19 patients being treated late or receiving treatment when their symptoms and conditions worsen,” he said.

Therefore, he revealed, the Covid-19 vaccine is a hope for efforts to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

“The public must believe that the vaccine is prepared to be safe and effective, because it must first obtain a license for use from the BPOM, after previously going through various long research processes, including clinical trials that ensure its safety and effectiveness,” he said. (hh)
