21 novemberOne of the saddest stories I read in the past month was that of illustrator Charlotte Dematons. In 2007 she published Sinterklaas, a large, colorful picture book that has been read to pieces here at home. Dematon’s images are a feast for the eyes, full of fine details, picture jokes and clever references. Every child who came here was taken out of the closet. And again and again we discovered subtleties that had eluded us before.
