Conductor and arranger Jēkabs Ozoliņš will celebrate his 75th birthday on Saturday, December 5, at 6 pm with a live concert from the concert hall “Lielais dzintars”. According to the concert organizers from the concert hall “Lielais dzintars”, customers who had purchased tickets to the concert in person will be refunded the money paid. Buyers who have purchased tickets online will receive the money in their bank account. Visitors who have purchased tickets at the box office are invited to go to one of the “Biļešu paradīze” box offices, where the money will be returned to the buyer upon presentation of the concert ticket.
Together with the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, the “Liepaja Music Orchestra” and the popular Lithuanian musicians, the concert will feature a program created by the jubilee and his stage partners with popular melodies, jazz music, big band classics and contemporary arrangements.
The concert will feature Quincy Jones’ most beautiful melodies and compositions for orchestra. The singer will step on the stage with a solo piece of his choice Aija Vītoliņa, Liepaja residents Igo and Ieva Dreimane, guitarist Aivars Hermanis, Raimonds Macats, Artis Orubs, Jānis Ivuškāns and many other popular musicians. The concert will be conducted by Valdis Skujiņš.

According to the concert organizers, conductor, music teacher, arranger, Knight of the Order of the Three Stars Jēkabs Ozoliņš has dedicated his life to nurturing and developing the musical life of his region and Liepāja city, he has been its long-term artistic director and soul. Ozoliņš has worked in the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra since 1987, regularly staging symphonic and popular music concerts. He has been a lecturer at Liepāja Music High School for 15 years, and has been conducting choirs in and around Liepāja for more than 40 years. Ozoliņš is a four-time chief conductor of the General Latvian Song and Dance Festival and an honorary chief conductor of 2013. Collaborated with Latvian rock bands – “Credo”, “Līvi”, “Tumsa”, “Remix”, created programs together with Uldis Marhilēvičs, Raimonds Pauls, participated in the festival “Liepājas dzintars”, etc.
Filming of Jēkabs Ozoliņš’s 75th anniversary concert will take place in an empty auditorium, observing all security measures. There is a fixed ticket price for the concert in support of the artist and the concert hall – 7 euros for one live connection or the so-called apartment ticket, when all residents of one household can enjoy the concert with one ticket.
