Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) opens a selection of users of the 2.3 GHz radio frequency band at 2360 -2390 MHz for cellular operators. This will be the way to bring 5G internet in Indonesia.
Kominfo said the opening of this selection was to support digital transformation in the economic, social, and government sectors, because there were still radio frequency blocks which currently had not been assigned to users of radio frequency bands.
“The selection of users of the 2.3 GHz radio frequency band aims to increase the capacity of the cellular mobile network, to maximize service quality, and to accelerate the deployment of ICT infrastructure with fifth generation technology (5G),” said Denny Setiawan, Chair of the Selection Team in an official statement. , as quoted Monday (23/11/2020).
Kominfo revealed in this auction several notes. First, the selection is carried out on the object of selection for the 2.3 GHz radio frequency band which consists of 3 blocks of radio frequency bands.
Second, the selection can only be followed by telecommunications operators that already have a Cellular Mobile Network Operation License.
For your information, there are five major operators who are interested in joining this auction. Namely: PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel), PT Indosat Tbk. (ISAT), PT XL Axiata Tbk. (EXCL), PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk. (FREN) and PT Hutchison 3 Indonesia.
