Police arrested eighteen to sixteen-year-olds for assaulting a man in Goes on Saturday, November 14. According to the police, the incident was the result of a so-called ‘pedo hunt’.
The victim was so abused by the group in the evening that he had to go to hospital.
The police report that the teenagers have now made a statement and that the Public Prosecution Service (OM) is now looking into prosecution. The victim has reported it.
Earlier, the police and the Public Prosecution Service called on so-called ‘pedo hunting’ to stop. In such practices, citizens themselves search for alleged child abusers. In recent months, this has led to more than 250 incidents in which an alleged child molester was, for example, assaulted, threatened or publicly pilloried.
In Arnhem, a ‘pedo hunt’ even got so out of hand that a 73-year-old man died after being attacked by a group of young people.
