KÖNGEN (sg). Owning a forest does not always have to be a sign of great wealth. The municipality of Köngen will invest even more in the forest in the coming year than it will earn from it. The income of 6100 euros, which is made up of the timber harvest (3800 euros), cultural funding (1500 euros) and economic administration (800 euros) is offset by expenditure of 11,300 euros. The biggest item is the forest protection and the maintenance of the stock (5500 euros). The personnel expenses for the wood harvest also add up to 2500 euros. The forest administration receives 2300 euros. Insurance and maintenance of the forest paths amount to 500 euros each.
In the coming year, the logging will not be large. 20 solid cubic meters of firewood and 40 solid cubic meters of space are to be expected. In addition there are 40 solid cubic meters of spruce and fir wood, 20 solid cubic meters of pile wood and ten solid cubic meters of unusable wood. For this it should be afforested. The planting of 600 common oaks and 300 winter linden trees is planned on 0.2 hectares. Forester Martin Auracher and his forest workers also protect the culture on an area of one hectare.
The ash tree still worries the foresters. This tree species has been affected by shoot death for several years. The crown condition of the ash trees has deteriorated dramatically, so that the ash tree, an actually valuable, slow-growing tree with very hard wood, falls out flat and has to be replaced.
In addition, the forester is planning oak thinning on 0.7 hectares, which only brings in 20 solid cubic meters of wood. The use of the damaged ash and spruce trees on 2.5 hectares also results in 110 solid cubic meters of wood. The Köngener municipal council unanimously approved the economic plan for the municipal forest.
