Britain will approve the Covid-19 vaccine earlier than the US
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON — Britain is ready to give regulatory approval for Pfizer-BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine this week, even before the United States allows it, reports the website. Telegraph, Sunday (23/11).
Citing a government source, it was stated that the regulator English will initiate official assessments of vaccines, manufactured by Pfizer and BioNTech and that Public Health Services have been informed to arrange for licensing by 1 December at the latest.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Friday it would discuss vaccine approval on December 10. The UK last week officially asked the medical regulator, the MHRA, to review the suitability of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
Britain has ordered 40 million doses and hopes to get 10 million doses, which is enough to protect 5 million people, by the end of this year if regulators approve the vaccine.
