Later, Microsoft console controllers will work with all Apple devices.
JAKARTA – Apple is reportedly working on support that allows users to play console games Xbox Series X and Xbox series S of iPhone 12 or iPad Air 4. Players cannot currently use controllers for Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S consoles with their iPhone or Mac.
Reporting from Tech RadarOn Sunday (22/11), users can now connect Xbox One and PS4 gamepads to hardware Apple via Bluetooth.
As discovered by 9to5Mac, Apple has updated its support page to assure users that controllers included with next-generation Microsoft consoles will work with all types of Apple hardware very soon.
“Microsoft and Apple are working together to bring Xbox Series X controller compatibility to customers in a future update,” reads the document.
Apple is not promising on a timescale, but compatibility is being worked on.
Gaming gearThere’s no mention of support for the PS5 DualSense controller yet, although the latest iOS 14.3 beta has a number of clues that suggest Apple is working on this too.
It made sense for Apple to add this new controller support while pushing the Apple Arcade service. Game subscriptions allow players to play multiple titles on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
