Now that the PS5 has been released, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla can also be played on the console, we did it for a review.
We’ve got Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla both on the Xbox Series X as on de PlayStation 5 played, for this review we focus on the console from Sony. The undersigned has taken the time to write this review. Because good grubs, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is a big game. Here are 5 things you should know about AC: Valhalla.
Not to worry, this review includes no spoilers
1. Big, bigger, biggest
Hey hey, can’t the next Assassin’s Creed feature planes? Joking aside, the world of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is huge, as we discovered for this review. Once you are on your way in the game and have unlocked all sync points, it is fine to do. However, take a few evenings to go through all those synchronization points with your horse. There are quite a few.
2. The world is alive
An advantage of next-gen gaming is that developers can put the hardware to work. You can see that clearly in an open world game like Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Of course you will notice the similarities with Origins and Odyssey. However, there is a lot new. You can look very far into the game. Villages, snowy peaks. England in Valhalla is beautiful. You also have a lot of flora and fauna. As a result, the world does not feel dead.
3. Sometimes you are fed up, but ..
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is one game which sometimes makes me feel like I haven’t done anything, even though I’ve just been gaming hardcore for 4 hours. Because the game is so big, there is a lot to do. After a long playing session, I am ‘fed up’ with the game. That feeling disappears after a few hours, because then the PlayStation 5 beckons again to dive into the world of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, as I discovered for this review.
4. Microtransacties
Microtransactions allow you to change a number of cosmetic things in-game. For example, the appearance of your ship or which animal you are driving. Unfortunately, some things are really exclusive to the microtransactions and that means that you have to spend real euros. Example. Instead of a horse (boring) you can discover England when you sit on a wolf (fat!). Nice, but you cannot unlock that wolf in the game. You have to buy 10 euros worth of credits via microtransactions. It’s a shame ..
5. Bugs are apparently part of it
I can’t remember Assassin’s Creed that were bug free. Valhalla is no exception. It is hoped that the bugs will be addressed with an update, but certainly do not hope for it. Several times I’ve dealt with annoying bugs in the game. My horse stuck in the air, a Raid that I couldn’t finish because a chest refused to open, an enemy that seemed to have eternal life and you name it. It’s not as serious as Unity a few years ago, but it does affect the fun.
Conclusion
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is an excellent purchase as one of the first games for your PS5. You have to bite through the bugs and survive the sometimes dead moments in the game world. As a casual gamer who plays games for a few hours a week, you can easily get through the winter with Valhalla. And we haven’t even mentioned the content that Ubisoft will release for Valhalla in the coming months. In short: a big recommendation, provided the character of a huge playing world does not dislike you.
You can buy Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla now for Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
