The amount of money in circulation among people is constantly growing. On November 19, this amount exceeded 700 billion crowns. On this occasion, the Czech National Bank issued a press release in which it provides interesting information about money among people.
In terms of one Czech, it is estimated that he holds approximately 65,000 crowns in cash at home. (700 billion crowns with a population of 10,650,000 – editor’s note)

A large increase in the value of money among people occurred in March this year, and the CNB explains why. “There are two main reasons for the significant increase in currency in circulation this year – some residents created a financial reserve in cash in the event of unexpected events at the beginning of the spring quarantine, but the closure of most shops and services did not allow them to make full use of this cash. in each difficult period, they also held more cash compared to the current period, ”states the Czech National Bank.

– Since the first day the Czech currency came into force (February 8, 1993), currency in circulation has increased by CZK 673.1 billion from the original CZK 28.1 billion.

– The sum of the weight of all coins currently in circulation is over 11,100 tonnes. This material would fill 555 wagons of 20 tons.
