The new Elche taxi regulations include 1 hour pre-contracting for VTCs
The Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante publishes in its edict 11051 of BOP 203 dated October 24, 2019 the new regulatory ordinance of the taxi service.
This ordinance regulates the operation of the public service and among the novelties with respect to the one that has been in force until now is the possibility that a specific calendar may be established for taxis that provide service to people with reduced mobility.
The objective of the measure, as stated in the approved ordinance itself, is to provide “special attention to this type of group.”
The ordinance was approved in plenary session in July and after being submitted to the corresponding public exposure period, it now enters into force.
The Councilor for Urban Mobility, Esther Díez, explained that “the new taxi ordinance that comes into force today makes us gain in sustainability and accessibility, on the one hand the new regulations allow ordinary taxis to be changed to taxis adapted for people with reduced mobility ”.
“In addition, it marks that from now on the taxi changes that are carried out are to eco cars or zero emissions with a two-year moratorium”, Díez has remarked.
The mayor recalled that “the inspection of taxis is also reinforced, forcing the protection of the services carried out to be kept for a month, issues related to the compatibility of professional and family life are also regulated.
It includes the condition that the VTC service has to be pre-contracted at least 60 minutes in advance and a new image is created for the taxi after decades to make it more modern and attractive ”.
