The 20th of November marks the birthday of the great artist, Lubna Abdel Aziz, who is now turning 85 years old.
Sada Al-Balad hosted the big star in a press conference to honor her for her film career, through which she revealed the details of her life after her decision to immigrate to America.
The great artist confirmed that she lived difficult days in her early years in America, and indicated that she endured a severe decline in the material level in order to stand by her husband at the beginning of his life.
She said: I went with my husband to the United States of America to obtain his degrees after graduating from medical school, and we did not have money to recruit a female worker, so I learned to survey the floor and cook, although I never imagined that I would learn these things, since I was a spoiled daughter of my family. After I entered art I became more famous and had all the comforts available to me.
Lubna Abdel Aziz confirmed that she left art behind her in order to stand by her husband despite her contract for three films, and her admiration for the American woman who bore everything is what helped her to accept her life during this difficult period.
And “Abdulaziz”, who has lived for nearly thirty years in America, stressed that she expects a return to strong relations with the United States in the presence of the new president, Donald Trump.
As for her vision of what is currently being presented artistically, she expressed her regret at the situation in which Egyptian cinema is experiencing a severe decline, especially during the past two decades, hoping that the Egyptian civilization during this period will not be measured by the arts it offers.
She said, “Men dominate most of the roles and lead the scene, and that there are no female stars in the literal sense, which is very sad.” She added, “The new generation of female artists must try to go through different experiences that bring them back to the front of the scene again.”
She said: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has restored women to their natural position, and during his period in the presidency of the state, he worked to appreciate women in more than one way, which was reflected in the public awareness, to be represented by more than 85 female deputies in the Egyptian parliament.
“The fact that women took to the streets to reject slavery brought back to the minds the scenes of the 1919 revolution, and I believe that women began to take real steps towards true equality, after a great journey of struggle during which they demonstrated the steadfastness of Musharraf,” she added.
