“The court acquitted Nikolayev and Mikhailov,” Biryukova said. The press service of the court clarified that from the text of the announced part of the verdict it follows that Mikhailov and Nikolaev will be acquitted, but there is no operative part yet.
According to her, 11 out of 13 defendants in the case received real terms from 3 years to 4 years 3 months. “Six defendants in the case were released in the courtroom, they were credited with the time spent in the pre-trial detention center,” said Biryukova.
The court sentenced Maxim Yablokov to 4 years 3 months in a general regime colony, Igor Bogdanov, Alexey Brovkin, Andrey Zybin and Alexander Morozov to 4 years, Dmitry Solovyov, Ruslan Tsvetkov, Sergey Drachev to 3 years 5 months, Alexey Andreev to 3 years 2 months, Sipan Mamoyan and Aleksey Mikityuk – by 3 years. Mikityuk, Mamoyan, Solovyov, Drachev, Tsvetkov and Andreev were released in the courtroom, the rest of the defendants remained in custody.
The lawyer stated that she considers the sentence in the torture case to the employees of IK-1 mild and intends to appeal it. “We intend to appeal against the verdict, not only to the administration of the colony. The terms are too soft,” Biryukova said.
Earlier, the state prosecution requested a sentence of seven years in a general regime colony for Nikolaev and Mikhailov. The prosecutor insisted on real terms for the remaining 11 former employees of the colony. The consideration of the case against the former head of the educational department of IK-1, Ivan Kalashnikov, who suffers from cancer, was suspended by the court until his recovery. Kalashnikov is under recognizance not to leave.
