UEFA then recorded it as Chadli’s own goal which made Denmark narrow the gap to 2-3. Luckily for Belgium, De Bruyne scored shortly afterwards to seal the team’s victory.
Belgium coach, Roberto Martinez, reluctant to take issue with his defensive mistakes. He was satisfied because his team performed better in the second half.
“In the first half, as soon as we scored, we felt like we were missing something. At that point we thought about qualifying for the semifinals, and we started to be a little careful. We did not show the usual composure,” Martinez said as quoted by the official UEFA website.
“I had a big reaction in the second half. We conceded, but it’s a mistake that happens when you play from behind.”
“But the team is ready to take risks and enjoy the game, something we didn’t do in the first half,” said Martinez.
