“It is more than healthy that the stock markets take a break,” said Ralph Wessels, head of investment strategy at ABN Amro. Stock prices have risen sharply in the past two weeks, partly thanks to the announcements from pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Moderna that they have effective corona vaccines. “We expect economic recovery in the long term. But that does not alter the fact that the winter can be long, ”Wessels remained cautious.

Wealth strategist Richard Abma (OHV), in turn, spoke of quiet stock market trading. “With the prospect of corona vaccines, the stock market remains positive,” he said. After two weeks of attractive price rises, according to the stock market strategist, shares are also still cheap if the average dividend yield of AEX funds is compared with negative interest rates.

Despite the advent of vaccines, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell warned that the US economy still has a long way to go before the corona crisis is over. “His statements put some pressure on the dollar. The crypto coins also reacted more strongly to his words than the interest rates, ”explained Abma. The bitcoin shot this morning up to $ 18,500.
