iPhone 12 problems

Now all models of the iPhone 12series are available and the first orders have been delivered, more and more users are getting started with their latest model. As every year, a number of problems arise, including with the iPhone 12 series. A recently heard problem with the iPhone 12 mini, for example, is that the touchscreen does not respond when unlocked. But there have been more problems with the iPhone 12 surfaced.

‘Access screen iPhone 12 mini responds badly’

An increasing number of users of the iPhone 12 mini complaining about problems with the lock screen. The MacRumors forum is already a lot complained and also on Reddit there is a growing number of users here suffer from it. iCulture reader Thijs also indicates that he experiences such problems. On the iPhone 12 mini the lock screen does not seem to respond or respond poorly to touches. It mainly plays in combination with a screen protector.

It is therefore not possible to unlock the device with a swipe upwards. Also pressing the buttons for flashlight and camera does not work or does not work properly. It is still unclear exactly what causes the problem and whether this can be solved with a software update. Users have experienced that operation is better when the device is connected to the charger or when no cover is used.

We also have an iPhone 12 mini in use, but have not experienced any problems with the access screen. So it seems that the problem is not common to all instances.

Possible solution

A temporary solution is therefore to at least not use a cover. iCulture reader Thijs contacted Apple Support, but they recommend reinstalling the software via iTunes or the Finder. Whether this is actually a solution is not yet known. It can also help to operate the screen with a finger other than the thumb, for example your index finger. If you suffer from this yourself, we recommend to contact Apple Support. The more they know about the problem, the sooner they will investigate it.

‘Wireless charger not working with iPhone 12’

It was released on Reddit pretty quickly complained that wireless chargers don’t work on the iPhone 12. While not everyone was affected, several models were affected. Fortunately, the solution is within reach: Apple has it iOS 14.2 fixed a bug that caused wireless charging could be prevented.

Keep in mind that due to the smaller design the iPhone 12 mini may not work with your wireless charger. The camera bulge can get in the way, causing insufficient contact between the wireless module in the charger and the iPhone.

Screen complaints of iPhone 12
On Reddit and YouTube we hear some stories about screen complaints of the iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 OLED screen wouldn’t be black enough and tend to be more gray. We have also seen some complaints about the screen being too yellow. Whether the problem is hardware related or whether it can be solved with a software update is not entirely clear.

Possible solution

Do you suffer from this problem? There is not yet a concrete solution, but you could at least take a look at your screen settings for Night Shift and True Tone. You can find these options at Settings> Screen and brightness. Perhaps True Tone is acting too aggressively or that your Night Shift setting is accidentally turned on with too strong an effect.

Hearing aids do not work properly with iPhone 12

Apple has now announced that there is a problem with hearing aids that are connected to the iPhone 12. These Made for iPhone hearing aids can be used in combination with an iPhone 12 (mini) or iPhone 12 Pro (Max) cause all kinds of audio problems. Users may experience unexpected sounds, distorted audio, or sound that is interrupted. In a supportdocument Apple explains the problem.

Apple says in this support document that they are aware of the issue and that it will be resolved in a future software update. It is not yet clear which update that will be. Apple may soon come with iOS 14.2.1, but we will not know that until the update is out. So make sure your device is up-to-date.

Missing text messages on iPhone 12

There is a problem with the Reports app. Some text messages are similar to the iPhone 12 not good to arrive. The most affected are those with a new iPhone 12, but it is unclear how widespread this problem is. It may be a combination of the iPhone 12 with 5G and a specific carrier. It is therefore quite possible that this problem is not an issue in the Netherlands, but we cannot rule it out.

The problem would mainly occur with regular text messages and not with iMessage. Yet there are also some complaints about this, that messages are received but that no notification is given. WhatsApp and other apps would not be affected.

Possible solution

It looks like this is a software problem that Apple can fix with a iOSupdate or providers with a carrier update. If you are bothered by this yourself, you can try to get yourself network settingsalthough this is no guarantee offers.
