Eight powder letters found: media, hospital and hotels target | Inland

In Amsterdam it was a multi-company building on the Jacob Bontiusplaats, which houses the editorial staff of DPG newspapers Het Parool, Trouw and de Volkskrant. A powder letter was also delivered to an office building on the Overschiestraat – according to the police not a media company – as well as to hotels on the Spuistraat and the Kattengat.

Exactly what substance was in the letters has not been disclosed. It is also not clear who sent them and for what purpose. The police are investigating whether there is a connection between the cases.

Fright

At Nederlands Dagblad, a Christian newspaper – located in the center of Amersfoort, specialized investigators conducted an investigation after an employee opened the mail item in question and was quite shocked, reports chief editor Sjirk Kuijper. The management has filed a report.

According to local media, the letter would have been opened by employees in the Rotterdam Ikazia hospital and two people would have come into contact with the powder.

No one was injured and the fire brigade secured the letter, police said. Experts are conducting further research. “It is a letter with an unknown substance,” said a police spokeswoman. The fire brigade is also on site.

According to the police, a mailroom employee was temporarily isolated after the find, until it became clear that there was no danger. The letter was found around 9:30 am. The police are not yet making any statements about the possible background to the powder letters.
