As we had already announced, in Bouzonville, wearing a mask is compulsory within a radius of 200 meters around schools. However, in order to understand the extent of the perimeter, the municipality has just specified the names of the streets. It turns out that almost the entire city center is affected. The mayor of the city, Armel Chabane, answered our questions.
Why wear the mask in such a large area?
“Today, the health situation is serious. The virus is circulating everywhere, even in Bouzonville and the surrounding area. I advise my fellow citizens to wear the mask everywhere, in every street, in each of their trips outside. This is an imperative. Today, I will not impose the wearing of masks everywhere, but we must fight collectively to slow the spread of the virus. Risks exist around schools and in the streets that lead to these establishments since they are more frequented, hence the decree that I took in agreement with the Prefecture. “
What precisely are the streets concerned?
“The streets included in the 200-meter zone are: rue de la République, rue des Résistants, Cour de l’Abbaye, Place du marché, rue Mazelle, rue de Chauvigny, rue Birck, rue des Bénédictins, rue des jardins du convent , rue du Général Maud’Huy, rue du four banal, rue des écoles, rue de la Nied, rue des Clos, rue des Sarrelouis, rue d’Eller, rue de Thionville, parking du Gymnase, rue Sainte-Marie, rue du Muguet, rue Saint-Hubert and rue Belle-Croix. “
Who is responsible for verifying compliance with the decree and what are the penalties?
“The municipal police are responsible for enforcing this decree. In this context, it may be required to issue a fine in the event of failure to wear a mask within the defined perimeter, as well as the police. In the event of non-wearing of the mask in the areas fixed by the decree, the amount of the fine may amount to € 135. Beyond compliance with regulations, it is a measure of individual responsibility. When we wear a mask, we protect ourselves, we protect others and we protect our loved ones
