US elections: Conservative group gives up lawsuits in four states over alleged fraud

The lawyers for True The Vote reported that they withdrew the cases filed in courts in Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, less than a week after they filed the complaints. Jim Bopp Jr., a lawyer for the group, declined to mention the reason for the decision, but confirmed that there are no other cases pending on the part of this group.

This announcement again reduces President Donald Trump’s legal options and his insistence on considering he was defeated in an election he says he won due to electoral fraud.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the group True The Vote is one of several conservative groups that have contested the victory of Democratic candidate Joe Biden, named President-elect by most of the American media.

Several lawsuits filed by the Trump campaign and other groups have been rejected by judges, voluntarily withdrawn or resolved. Some others are still pending.

Trump has secured at least two court victories in the state of Pennsylvania related to the scrutiny of postal votes. In this state, projections provide Biden with a 67,000 vote advantage over Trump.
