“There is something in the air of New York that makes sleep unnecessary” said Simone de Beauvoir. With around 1,700 parks, 113 museums, just as many historic monuments, around 3,500 fashion boutiques, 24,000 restaurants (fast and traditional), when visiting New York, one question only arises, where to start? # 1 The Statue of Liberty
The star statue of Liberty Island is one of the strongest symbols of the United States, although it was designed by a French architect. While the tablet dated July 4, 1776 that she holds in her hand recalls theamerican independence, the broken chains at his feet symbolize the abolition of slavery and the 7 branches of his crown represent the 7 seas and continents of our planet.
Note that there is only one official company to go to the island: Statue Cruises and that other boats are prohibited from docking.
All the details of the tickets and the visit in our article.
#2 Le Metropolitan Museum of Art
Of course, you will not have time to admire its 250,000 works and to survey the 270 rooms. It would take days (and nights) to go all the way around MET. Rather, stroll through the rooms according to your mood and enjoy the atmosphere that reigns in the places.
Our favorites:egyptian art with its mummies and pieces of temples, and thejapanese art, whose only tapestries and costumes occupy 10 rooms.
# 3 a Broadway show and a walkabout at Time Square
Emblem of spectacle, musical comedies and drama show, Broadway brings together a majority of large theaters (more than 500 seats), concentrated towards Times Square, but also much smaller ones that present the Off-Off Broadway. If you’re feeling lonely, then take a trip to Times Square, where you’ll find 360,000 other people strolling and gazing at the neighborhood lights and neon lights. If you’re visiting NYC at the end of the year, this is the place to be on New Years Day.
#4 L’Empire State Building
It has the title of New York’s most famous skyscraper and its 86th floor offers stunning views of Manhattan from its observatory. Built in 1931, it was the tallest building in the Big Apple for a long time, before being overtaken by the One World Trade Center. L’Empire State Building also celebrates weddings and organizes jazz concerts …
# 5 Shopping (or not) on 5th avenue
Like the avenue of Champs Elysees in Paris, NYC has its prestigious street: the 5th Avenue, which starts from Washington Square Park to finish at Harlem. However, it is between 49th and 60th Street that we find the most popular section of the 5th avenue.
Here, a succession of luxury shops like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Rolex, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Armani, Fendi, Versaci, Bottega Veneta, Cartier and Jimmy Choo and more affordable brands such as Banana Republic, Juicy Couture, Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Paul Smith , to guarantee you a session shopping unusual and blisters on the feet.
