Frankfurt / Main / Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – According to the police, transphobic motives may have played a role in the mass brawl in downtown Frankfurt on Saturday evening. After an initial assessment of videos on the Internet, there were indications that the attack against a 20-year-old person on the famous Zeil shopping street could have had “transphobic or transhobic motives,” the police headquarters announced on Monday. The videos would be further evaluated.

Ten people between the ages of 14 and 30 were arrested on site. On Monday evening it was said from the police headquarters that everyone was at large again. A working group at the House of Youth Law in Frankfurt-Höchst had been set up for the investigation.

The number of arrests was initially unclear. According to initial investigations, a group is said to have insulted and kicked the 20-year-old from Offenbach, who according to the police is a man according to the passport, in front of a shopping center. As the victim struggled, more and more bystanders joined the fight. A total of around 150 young people were in front of the shopping center on Saturday evening, who are also said to have violated the applicable distance and mask regulations. Only two weeks earlier there had been violent clashes on the Zeil. Bottles and eggs were thrown at police officers.
