Prince Charles is not immediately the hottest member of the British royal family, but he clearly wants to change that image. In collaboration with online luxury retailer Yoox Net-a-Porter, he launched a sustainable clothing collection.

Charles and fashion? At first glance that does not seem like a match, but the prince has been more creative lately. He recently launched another gin, now a clothing collection. His The Prince’s Foundation collaborated with Yoox Net-a-Porter and together they gave some fashion graduates from Italy and the UK the opportunity to develop an eighteen-volume capsule collection called The Modern Artisan.
The biggest source of inspiration for the collection was the work of Leonardo da Vinci. Moreover, the focus was also on traditional craftsmanship and sustainable materials, which has long been one of Charles’s hobby horses, who is known as a great nature lover. It is no coincidence that the result looks very English thanks to the checkered patterns, cardigans and classic coats.
Joint passion
“The project grew out of our shared passion for education and training the talent of tomorrow,” said Federico Marchetti, CEO of Yoox Net-a-Porter. “With this collaboration we want to focus on the craft of making clothing. It was a pleasure to work with the Prince of Wales. He is extremely interested in fashion, craftsmanship and innovation and those are interests that we share. ”
Although Charles did not design the clothes himself, he was reportedly involved in every step of the process. “For me it was important to rediscover how important the role of nature is in all this, to understand where natural materials come from and how they can be used in a new and innovative way. Nature is the source of everything ”, he says.
