The municipality of Rotterdam counted 300 new cases last 24 hours, 283 positive tests were registered in Amsterdam and 128 cases were added in The Hague. 100 infections came to light in Eindhoven and 90 in Tilburg.
The number of deaths from corona rose by 45 last 24 hours, the same as the day before. That’s not to say that all of these people died in the past 24 hours. Such information is sometimes passed on with some delay.
In the past seven days, just over 38,000 people have tested positive and 489 deaths have been recorded. That is both less than the week before.
Since the start of the outbreak, the corona virus has been diagnosed in more than 450,000 people in the Netherlands. At the current rate, that number will top half a million by the end of the month. More than 8,500 people are certain to have died of the virus.
Hospital figures
The number of corona patients in the hospital has increased by 35 from 2095 to 2130. The National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS) reports this. There are 1,557 people with corona in the ordinary ward, 48 more than the day before, while the number of patients with Covid-19 in the IC has dropped from 586 to 573.
Due to the high corona pressure, all hospital regions are forced to scale regular care by tens of percentages. To limit the damage as much as possible, the LCPS has been spreading patients outside the regions for a month and a half. Two Dutch people were moved to Germany, they have now returned to health.
This week, the cabinet is expected to announce that the tightened corona measures from two weeks ago will be relaxed again. This allows institutions such as cinemas, museums, amusement parks, theaters and swimming pools to reopen. The catering industry will probably remain closed. Regional measures, such as the controversial curfew, are much less relevant, according to sources from The Hague.
