Freiburg: Ice hockey: Chad Bassen joins the EHC Freiburg – With the engagement of a 37-year-old attacker, “Wolves” react to Christoph Kiefersauer’s injury

By signing the 37-year-old Chad Bassen, EHC Freiburg reacted to Christoph Kiefersauer’s injury. The German-Canadian learned to play ice hockey in his home country before moving to the Frankfurt Lions in the DEL in the 2004/05 season. 16 years in the German ice hockey upper house followed. Overall, Chad Bassen can fall back on the experience of over 751 DEL games with 243 points scorer. After his time in Frankfurt in the DEL, he wore the jerseys of the Straubing Tigers, the Hamburg Freezers, the Augsburger Panther, the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg and the Iserlohn Roosters. Most recently Bassen went on the ice for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers. Now the left-handed shooter will move to Breisgau. At EHC Freiburg, the attacker signed a contract until the end of the season.

Werner Karlin, 1st board member of EHC Freiburg: “The long-term absence of Christoph Kiefersauer so early in the season hit us hard. All the more so since he was on the way to building on all his capabilities and becoming one of the top performers. Fortunately, as a player with many years of DEL experience, Chad Bassen was available at short notice. “

Peter Russell, Wolves’ head coach, adds: “I am very happy that Chad Bassen is joining our team. With Kiefersauer’s injury, we lost a lot of depth in our squad. The club management immediately supported me in bringing such an experienced DEL striker like Chad Bassen on board. Chad is a very good skater and can be used in absolutely any situation. He always works very hard both offensively and defensively. With all his experience he will help us not only on but also off the ice. I wish Christoph Kiefersauer all the best and hope to see him again with us on the ice sometime next year. “

If all formalities have been met, Chad Bassen (37) will make his debut in the DEL2 and in the Wolves’ jersey this weekend.
