The American elections have been mixed for the Democrats. You may have recaptured the White House with Joe Biden, but the congressional election was more than disappointing for the party. She had hoped to be able to control the Senate in addition to the House of Representatives after the election. She would have had to win three more seats in the small chamber. So far, however, the Democrats have only booked one additional seat net. Georgia has two runoff elections in January, but both are the Republicans as favorites. The party also suffered losses in the House of Representatives. When all votes have been counted, their majority will not be larger as expected, but only very tight.
