395 people have contracted Covid-19 in Latvia

6442 Covid-19 tests were performed in the last day, 395 new cases of the disease were registered, according to the information compiled by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC).

Five persons died (one person in the age group from 65 to 70, one in the group from 70 to 75, one in the group from 75 to 80, two in the group from 85 to 90).

The proportion of positive cases against those tested is 6.1%. The SPCC has previously explained that this figure is considered important in the European Union, as above 4%, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.

In Latvia, a total of 10,231 persons became ill and 1,515 recovered. To date, a total of 116 deaths have been reported in patients with confirmed infection with Covid-19.

It has already been reported that on Friday, November 6, at the joint meeting of the Extraordinary and Crisis Management Council of the Cabinet of Ministers, considering a number of issues related to limiting the spread of Covid-19, Cabinet of Ministersadopted an order to declare a state of emergency in the country from Monday, November 9.

World Health Organization (WHO) has named the disease caused by the new coronavirus. It is called Covid-19. The name is made up of the words “corona”, “virus” and “disease”. The number 19, in turn, indicates the year in which the outbreak of the virus began. The first reports of the virus outbreak appeared on December 31 last year.
