The Board rectifies | Radio Zamora

He has barely endured a weekend. The measures adopted by the General Directorate of Sports of the Board Castilla y León around stopping the expansion of the coronavirus have collided with reality: it is practically impossible to do sports with a mask on in level competitions.

Specifically, the Board has not been slow to give backtracking in the decision of the mandatory use of masks in training sessions and matches in closed venues (pavilions basically) of all competitions, including those clubs that had the protocol agreed with the Superior Council of Sports (elite of soccer and basketball, both male and female), and that in Castilla y León affected Avenue and Zamarat.

The measure had caused the protest not only from the teams involved, but also from the sports councilors from the main cities in the region (and therefore had equipment directly affected). In fact, although it was respected in some cases (mainly handball, including Asobal), neither Avenida nor Zamarat (and their rivals) respected a rule that has already been repealed.

In the afternoon of this Monday, the Board has issued a statement in which it leaves out of the obligation all those teams that participate in national competitions, including those leagues that end with a possible promotion play-off. In practice, all the competitions that are underway or that, as of today, have a vision of being able to start soon, are left out.

The details of the statement can be read in the Communication website of the Junta de Castilla y León:
