Liftago breaks records in the delivery of consignments from Alza. It can easily distribute thousands of packages from e-shops via Excel

The new iPhones 12 were officially sold in the Czech Republic for only five minutes, but the first customers already had them at home. Delivery from e-shops is constantly improving, and in this case we are a little closer to the mythical teleport, which is often talked about in Alza. It was the largest Czech e-shop that managed to deliver new apple phones in a flash, thanks to Liftag.

The fact that Liftago is no longer just about the transport of people, but also shipments and purchases, his boss Ondřej Krátký has been talking for quite some time. With his colleagues, he built a well-oiled system, in which Alza immediately saw the potential, and now Liftago is beginning to break through the logistics market not only in express, but also in mass delivery 24/7. At a time of great growth in e-commerce, the need for reliable delivery quickly or at the right time is still higher.

“Until now, we did logistics for people, now it’s logistics for people and goods. We are an online network of many commercial drivers, to which we give customers or entire companies access so that they do not have to build their own logistics. We involve and exploit commercial drivers who are already on the streets and make a living by courier or taxi service, instead of just increasing the number of them on the streets and not sharing their transport capacity. “ explains for CzechCrunch the philosophy of the company Krátký.

Liftaga drivers first started delivering shipments, especially in express mode, ie as quickly as possible, but today they can do more. Sometimes you need to have the package delivered really as quickly as possible, but a much more pressing problem during delivery is the time accuracy and capacity to guarantee this accuracy even with a larger number of purchases.

The usual interval of several hours, when the courier will deliver the shipment to you on a given day, is often too annoying and limiting, because you have to spend half a day at home just because you are waiting for a postman.

According to data from Alza, the success rate of delivery to carriers for the next day is around 70 to 80 percent on the first delivery attempt. This means that almost every fourth shipment is not successfully delivered. That’s why Liftago comes with express and bulk delivery on time, thanks to which it has a 96% success rate in delivering the shipment for the first time, when delivered on the same or the next day.

“In Prague, thanks to the cooperation with Liftag, our goods are available to customers basically 24 hours a day within 60 minutes of ordering. But we manage to deliver even in 20 minutes. In other cities, cooperation allows us to deliver on weekends as well, “ describes the benefits of cooperation Tomáš Havryluk, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alza.cz.

Person or package, we can do both

It was Tomáš Havryluk and Ondřej Krátký who spoke about the connection between Alza and Liftaga at our CzechCrunch Onlajn conference, which you can see here (or in the attached video at the end of the article). Among other things, the head of the largest Czech e-shop described how Alze, thanks to Liftag, manages to approach his vision of “ordering by idea, delivery by teleport”, and Krátký talks about transforming his company into a logistics player.

Liftago does not deliver packages by far only for Alza. Thanks to the ability to immediately deliver mass-balanced orders at the right time, it offers e-shops an alternative or addition to traditional logistics partners. One driver can easily carry 10 to 15 packages on one route, and thanks to the massive coverage of Liftaga drivers, who are constantly online in more than 14 cities, it is possible to make tens of thousands of deliveries a day through their network.

“We are entering logistics to work with existing players and complement their capabilities with a software solution as well as greater delivery capacity at the so-called last mile and the possibility of precise delivery windows. In addition, we bring convenience to customers thanks to timely SMS messages about the delivered purchase with the possibility to monitor the arrival of the driver on the map on the mobile phone, “ explains Ondřej Krátký.

At Liftago, when delivering packages from the customer’s point of view, it really works the same as when ordering a taxi. You will receive a message informing you that the courier is heading for you and when it will arrive exactly, after which you can track its exact location. However, Liftag has also prepared the most simple interface for the traders themselves, so that the barrier to entry is as small as possible for them.

“It’s a total pre-flood version, but we’ve verified it’s the most functional at the same time,” laughs Short as he shows how in a simple web interface he clicks a button to upload an Excel file. A simple table with information about the shipment, the addressee and the time of delivery is all that is enough for the trader to get the Liftaga driver to his warehouse and deliver the package to the destination immediately.

Internal or e-shop systems usually throw merchants a similar table with a list of packages that need to be delivered. If traders are not connected to Liftago directly via the API, or via Shoptet, Storyous or other systems, then they did not want to complicate anything in Liftago. “Through the Liftago, for example, a trader can check in those packages that their carrier does not catch up with, or he says he wants to start delivering on time, or as fast as possible, and we arrange it all through his Excel spreadsheet,” describes the head of Liftaga.

Thanks to Liftag, e-shops can gain higher flexibility, which they usually do not have with large carriers. For example, the exact delivery time slot has so far been mainly the domain of large players who could afford their own logistics, but that is no longer the case. In addition to more precise logistics, the costs of undelivered shipments and, for example, packaging are reduced.

“Goods destined for the same place from which they were sent do not have to be through a depot and therefore do not have to be packed expensively. In addition, shipments are handled by drivers who are typically located hundreds of meters from the pick-up location. All this increases resource efficiency and reduces the impact on traffic congestion. Our system thus suitably complements our own fleets of e-shops as well as classic carriers within the same costs, “ adds Krátký.

Proof of his words is the already mentioned Alza, which combines the services of many carriers and its own fleet and, in cooperation with Liftag, can move the entire logistics further. It started with express delivery, thanks to which it was able to reduce the delivery time for the 100 fastest shipments in Prague to an average of 33 minutes in September, and the popularity of this service is growing. It has already been used by over 50,000 customers, its growth is accelerating and expanding to other cities.

Liftago then states that the delivery for Alza took up almost 17,000 hours of drivers, who would otherwise have survived while waiting for work between the peaks. A total of 935 vehicles were involved and the companies thus saved more than 330,000 kilometers, which would otherwise have to be driven by other cars in the streets.
