Dozens of employees of Ubisoft, a French company active in nearly twenty countries and specialized in the development and distribution of computer games, have been held hostage since Friday afternoon in the Boulevard Saint-Laurent office in Montreal, Canada.
It is not yet clear how many perpetrators there are. They would demand a ransom, but that has not been officially confirmed.
Special forces of the Canadian Police are on the scene and have sealed off the neighborhood.
Negotiations are currently underway with the perpetrator or perpetrators. There would be no terrorist motives.
Dozens of company employees have fled to the roof and barricaded the door so that the perpetrator or perpetrators do not get to them.
More details are missing because the situation is still very unclear. Also for the emergency services.
Everyone in the area is asked to stay indoors and a wide perimeter has been established around the company.
