The Egyptian Football Association states on Friday afternoon that Mohamed Salah has tested positive for the coronavirus during the national team gathering.
The Liverpool star has no symptoms and is now isolated. The 28-year-old will complete a second test.
Salah attended his brother Nasr’s wedding in Cairo earlier this week, before joining the Egyptian squad that will face Togo over two qualifiers for the African Championship.
Salah has had a good start to the season for Liverpool with ten goals and one goal-scoring 13 games in all competitions.
The next match is against Leicester in the Premier League on Saturday 21 November.
Mo Salah tests positive for Covid after doing this at a wedding. Seriously, we need to stop players leaving their club bubbles amid this pandemic.

Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp have had a heavy national team break so far. In addition to the fact that Salah has tested positive for the coronavirus, Joe Gomez suffered a serious knee injury during training with England earlier this week. The midfielder loses much of this season.
Liverpool also have Virgil van Dijk, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcântara on the injury list.
Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League after eight games. That is one point up to league leader Leicester. The Reds have a full pot in the Champions League after three games.
