Equities New York Outlook: Dow expected with price gains – significant weekly gain | 11/13/20

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – After the setback from the previous day, the US stock markets are likely to start trading on Friday with a firmer tendency. Around three quarters of an hour before trading began, the broker IG valued the Dow Jones Industrial (Dow Jones 30 Industrial) 0.73 percent higher at 29 293 points. This indicates a weekly gain of around 3.4 percent for the US benchmark index.

The great euphoria on Monday – driven by vaccine hopes and the outcome of the US presidential election – seems to be slowly coming to an end, said market analyst Timo Emden from Emden Reserach. In addition, from his point of view, the stock exchanges must continue to grapple with the corona crisis. “The simmering worries about the corona pandemic have caught up with investors again,” said Emden.

The stocks of Walt Disney should be in focus among the individual stocks. The corona crisis has brought another quarter in the red for the US entertainment giant. Nevertheless, Disney is slowly recovering from the corona shock, which had shut down large parts of the entertainment empire and led to an enormous minus in the previous quarter. CEO Bob Chapek once again highlighted the streaming business for the online video service Disney + as a great success. The Disney papers rose 3.3 percent in pre-market trading.

The network specialist Cisco expects a sales development of minus two to zero percent for the current fiscal quarter. Analysts, however, had assumed a decline of almost three percent. The share price jumped 7.5 percent before the IPO./edh/jha/
