“I have given a mandate to the regional offices to proceed legally against the consultant of the Minister of Health, Mr. Ricciardi”. The president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, writes on Facebook in a post in which he explains what he defines as “the true story of Cardarelli’s death”. “Yesterday Mr. Giuseppe C., 84 years old, arrived at Cardarelli’s emergency room – he writes – already with oxygen from home. The patient, as shown in the medical record, was suffering from diabetes, hypertension, aneurysm of the aorta abdominal, and previously underwent laryngectomy. The patient, transferred to OBI, got up from the stretcher and went to the bathroom. After ten minutes, the nurse, worried about the delay, went to check and found the man lying on the ground lifeless. Then he went away to take the litter. In these minutes, another gentleman, Rosario R., 30, who arrived by his own means at the Cardarelli Emergency Department, had the courage to shoot a video and then post it on social media. In the evening, the same young man, against the advice of the doctors, left the hospital “. (UPDATES – THE SPECIAL – THE MAPS).

With reference to what happened, De Luca expresses “the dutiful solidarity with the family of the deceased”, invites “the director general of Cardarelli to express his appreciation for the extraordinary work they have always done, to doctors and nurses in that emergency room”, but also to “denounce the perpetrator of the ignoble video and with him how many, on an episode that could happen in any hospital in the world, indulged in yet another shameful looting campaign against Cardarelli and Campania health care”.
