The extension of the aid to the self-employed will be approved today in the Council of Ministers
Today the Council of Ministers will approve the Royal Decree which replaces the current benefit for the cessation of activity of the self-employed for a new aid that will allow, with conditions, to collect this aid and continue working.
The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, José Luis Escrivá, and the self-employed organizations UATAE, ATA and UPTA had agreed yesterday to replace the extraordinary benefit for cessation of activity as of June 30 for a new aid with more flexible conditions and with the possibility of making it compatible with the activity until September 30.
Specifically, the agreement provides that aid may be accessed even if the activity is maintained under the condition that already provided for the extraordinary benefit:
That the billing has fallen between the months of July and September, 75% compared to the same period last year. As a novelty, it establishes that the income of the recipients must be below 1.75 of the minimum interprofessional salary.
New rules
The new Decree that will be approved today, provides for a progressive downward exemption in the obligation to contribute during the first three months following the lifting of the state of alarm for those workers who were receiving the benefit for cessation of activity as of June 30, which reaches the 100% in the month of July, 50% in August and 25% in the month of September.
In addition, the possibility of combining the provision of cessation of activity provided for in the General Law of Social Security with self-employment provided that certain requirements are met, a measure that is intended to guarantee income that helps the self-employed worker to stay active.
