The Institute for Sports Justice (ISR) has relaxed the disciplinary measures against gymnastics trainers Vincent Wevers and Nico Zijp. Both may have contact again with members and former members of the KNGU turnbond.
In addition, Zijp can again provide central training to his pupil Tisha Volleman, among others. Wevers returned to the gymnastics hall earlier.
Large-scale investigation of ISR
Both gymnastics trainers were imposed the measures earlier this autumn in the interest of a large-scale investigation by the ISR into abuses in gymnastics. Several former gymnasts came out last summer with testimonials about abuse of power and intimidation in the gym.
The prosecution has now determined that the disciplinary measures against Zijp and Wevers are no longer necessary in order to properly conduct the investigation. These measures can be tightened up again for new reports.
Zijp, trainer at the gymnastics club Flik-Flak in Den Bosch, was asked by the gymnastics association at the end of July to step aside, he voluntarily withdrew temporarily. He will resume training with Volleman, gymnast of the Dutch team. For the time being, however, Zijp decides not to return to Flik-Flak.
