Hiking from New York to Canada

In the USA, a new hiking and biking trail should be completed by the end of the year. The new “Empire State Trail” then leads hikers and cyclists from the heart of the metropolis of New York to the Canadian border. The new trail will be 1,200 kilometers long.

The Empire State Trail will be ready by the end of the year.

The first section of the route leads from the metropolis of New York along the Hudson River north to the city of Albany. From Albany, hikers can choose between two routes. The western route leads to Buffalo, not far from the famous Niagara Falls. The northern route takes hikers and cyclists through Pittsburgh to Rouse Point. Along both routes, visitors can expect cultural sights such as museums and breweries, as well as unique landscapes.

The “Empire State Trail” was initiated in 2017 by Governor Andrew Cuomo. The new hiking trail is intended to both boost tourism in New York State and encourage the population to adopt a more active lifestyle. For three years, new paths were built and gaps between the existing hiking trails “Erie Canalway” and “Hudson River Valley Greenway” closed.
