Curaçao reports on Thursday that 51 people have been tested positive for the corona virus. That is a day record for the island. Never before have so many infections been registered in 24 hours.
The government has announced that it is being investigated whether there was a specific meeting where many people were infected. More than thirty of the new infections cannot be linked to existing cases.
315 active infections have now been registered on the island. Seven people who tested positive are in hospital, one of whom is in intensive care (ic). Since March of this year, two people have died from the effects of the virus.
Curaçao has had a curfew since September 14, and dance and music activities have been prohibited since August. Furthermore, people should keep their distance as much as possible.
Ask about travel to the Caribbean part of the Netherlands
Traveling to the Caribbean part of the Netherlands is currently popular as a result of the cabinet’s urgent advice not to go on holiday abroad until mid-January. The islands are not part of the foreign country.
Currently, a yellow applies to Curaçao and Bonaire travel advice. This means that holiday travel and other unnecessary travel are possible. Orange travel advice applies to the other islands (only necessary travel).
