‘More people want to buy a house, no price decreases for the time being’

This is evident from the housing market index that Funda is publishing for the first time today. From now on, the housing site wants to show every month how the behavior of potential home buyers changes.

Home hunters keep a close eye on the market: can you strike quickly in corona times? Or do you have to wait a little longer, because prices will fall in the future, as is sometimes claimed?

Index

The so-called Funda Index must show whether buyers have confidence in the market, whether they intend to buy, or just surf a little. And Funda also checks how often they contact a selling broker.

“By looking at consumer confidence, intention and behavior every month, we think we can see what is happening before it happens. “said CEO Quintin Schevernels.

In retrospect, we see a significant corona dip during the lockdown. The dip has recovered considerably in the months that followed. “We can now see that in the first Funda Index, there is a shortage and it will remain so in the coming months”, says Schevernels.

A downer for those who are waiting for falling house prices. Schevernels: “Consumers expect the housing market to remain tight for the time being. And the economic law says that it is unlikely that prices will come under pressure.”
