The ’empty Spain’ sharpens the ingenuity to try to recover life. And one of the last most curious proposals comes from the hand of Olvés, a small municipality in the Calatayud region (Zaragoza).
This Aragonese town makes a call to find interested in taking over the social center and the only bar that is in the town, after the departure of the previous managers of the establishment.
It is the only meeting point for the 70 residents of the town and that is why the City Council offers a free house and an exemption in the payment of the rent of the premises to capture interest. The mayor of the municipality, Iluminada Ustero, also commits to payment of the heating of the premises and half of the electricity bill. All in order to ensure that the service is maintained and to give an opportunity to all those people who have lost their jobs or have suffered a strong reduction in income as a result of covid-19, especially for many professionals in the hospitality sector.
The ideal target audience for the council is a family (ensures that there is employment in the area and school transport), although it is open to any proposal. The only requirement that it establishes from potential owners is register for the self-employed regime, to operate within the law.
The offer has aroused the interest of dozens of families and individual citizens in a matter of days, and the City Council ensures that they are receiving requests for information and candidates from different parts of Spain (such as Seville, Córdoba, Malaga, Madrid or San Sebastián) , and even from abroad.
As it is a public offer, the next step is to create a list of conditions to choose the future manager of the establishment.
